The Ten Plagues of Egypt

The Ten Plagues inflicted upon Egypt served three purposes: they forced Pharaoh to release the Hebrews from slavery; they punished Pharaoh for the terrible suffering Pharaoh and the Egyptians caused; and they revealed to the Hebrews that there is only one God, theirs. That is why each plague is directed against distinct false gods worshipped by the Egyptians.
